Programs
Project READ and its coalition members offer the following learning opportunities to adults
and families in Montgomery, Greene and Preble Counties:

One-on-one Tutoring (adults) - "each one teach one" method of instruction pairing an adult
student with a volunteer tutor

GED - Ohio High School Equivalence Diploma

ESOL (English For Speakers of Other Languages) - Program to teach those whose
native language is not English


Youth Literacy Services (K-12)- Formally know as Miami Valley READS, Project READ
places trained tutors in the classroom in school systems in Montgomery, Greene & Preble
counties.


Family Literacy Program - "Teach the parent, reach the child."  Programs focus on both the
parent and the child; addresses both literacy and parenting skills

Work Place Basics - Programs focus on the basic skills necessary to perform current or
future jobs

Literacy*AmeriCorps Dayton  - Coordinated locally by Project READ,
Literacy*AmeriCorps
is a national service program that places literacy tutors in various
coalition programs for 11 months of service in the Greater Dayton Area.  


Project READ is one of only 7 literacy coalitions in the country that manages this adult literacy
tutoring initiative.   
There are a limited number of service positions available each year.  All
positions are full-time and require a 40 hour per week commitment.

All positions for the 2011-2012 service year are filled.  If you'd like to learn more,

 Recruiting for the 2012-2013 service year will begin in late March 2012.
