Programs
Project READ and its coalition members offer the following learning
opportunities to adults and families in Montgomery, Greene and Preble Counties:

One-on-one Tutoring - "each one teach one" method of instruction pairing an
adult student with a volunteer tutor

Miami Valley READS (K-12 grades), is Project READ's program for school-age
readers at risk.  This initiative originated as the local implementation of OhioReads
but is now an independent program managed by Project READ.

GED - Ohio High School Equivalence Diploma

ESOL (English For Speakers of Other Languages) - Program to teach those
whose native language is not English

Family Literacy Program - "Teach the parent, reach the child."  Programs focus
on both the parent and the child; addresses both literacy and parenting skills

Work Place Basics - Programs focus on the basic skills necessary to perform
current or future jobs

Learning Links - A partnership project with the Miami Valley Literacy Council and
other coalition members, is a user-friendly space that links customers of the
Montgomery County Job Center to educational programs in the community

LEAF at Learning Links (Literacy Education for Adults and Families) - An
intensive family literacy program for families on public assistance, is a cooperative
effort involving Project READ, Miami Valley Literacy Council, and as well as adult,
family and youth literacy organizations

Literacy*AmeriCorps Dayton  - Coordinated by Project READ, is a national
service program that places literacy tutors in various coalition programs for 11
months of service in the Greater Dayton Area.  There are a limited number of
service positions available each year.  
We will begin interviewing applicants for
the 2008-2009 service year beginning in March 2008.  If you're interested,
